I’m an experienced software engineer and current MSc Statistics student at the University of Queensland (UQ). My particular interests are in evolutionary algorithms, reinforcement learning and open-endedness.

Previously I've worked as a quantitative developer designing algorithms and building trading systems for high-frequency trading firms. I've also co-founded and exited a startup to a NYSE listed company. I hold a BEng in Software Engineering from UQ.

Projects

foragers world A reinforcement learning environment written from scratch in JAX. Foragers explore the world, consume food and breed. The RL agents goal is to use its levers avaialble to control the population within a given band.
tailbench Benchmark environment for measuring p99 latency of a target program in a Rust async runtime. Allows new test levels to be automatically generated with a small parameter set.
autoresearch Custom harness for running auto-research style experiments. Used to run experiments with an actor-critic style multi-agent setup.
perpetual pools Smart contract based derivatives protocol. Traded over $700m USD of volume on Ethereum mainnet.

Research

A Framework for Generating Evasion Attacks for Machine Learning Based Network Intrusion Detection Systems Through the use of evolutionary algorithms and ML techniques, we evolve a population of attacks against intrusion detection systems. Published at WISA 2021.
